2026-2027 Lead Dyslexia Bilingual Teacher - Pool @ Special Services

Primary Purpose

Implement district dyslexia program by ensuring that federal, state and district policies/guidelines are implemented and in compliance. Develop and track student's IEP goals and progress for specially designed instruction for students with dyslexia. Ensure screening, identification, and development of structures and support for students at risk and identified with dyslexia. Additionally, work with campus staff to ensure interventions and accommodations are implemented.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

• Texas certification standards required for assignment as set by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC)
• ESL certification preferred or ESL certification required within two (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in 2010-11 school year
• Special Education certification required or completed with one year
• Bilingual certification required

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Strong knowledge of reading, math and dyslexia instruction across grade levels
• Knowledge of dyslexia referral and assessment process for Dyslexia Intervention
• Complete all additional training requirements for the position within one year, in accordance with the most current Dyslexia Handbook
• Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting and knowledge of the MTSS/504/IDEA referral process
• Strong written and oral communication skills and exemplary organizational skills
• Demonstrated competency of digital-age work, technology, and instructional software
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records
• Ability to interact with diverse groups of professionals and individuals
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior in a constructive and positive manner

Experience

Three (3) years' successful teaching or interventionist experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Program Management

• Implement District Dyslexia Program ensuring that Federal, State, & District policies/guidelines are followed and in compliance
• Provides monolingual and bilingual, evidence-based dyslexia/dysgraphia instruction aligned with structured literacy practices to support multilingual/monolingual learners
• Provide direct Tier 3 intervention services as schedule allows
• Train and support students, at risk and identified with dyslexia, on the use of technology to strengthen growth in reading
• Ensure additional training requirements for the position is completed within one year, according to the most current Dyslexia Handbook are completed
• Facilitate the dyslexia screening to evaluation process on campus (Elem/MS)
• Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
• Maintain state and district documentation and progress monitoring requirements for students at risk and currently identified with dyslexia
• Complete all documentation requirements in a timely manner
• Facilitate the MTSS/RtI process at the campus level (Elementary/Intermediate only)
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
• Maintain district dyslexia records and documentation
• Serve as a resource to MTSS/RtI 2 /504/ARD committees on dyslexia and related disorders
• Assume responsibility for instructional materials and equipment inventoried to the dyslexia teacher and the assigned school
• Assist Special Services Coordinator with initial and ongoing professional development for campus staff, parents, & guardians on topics related to dyslexia and early intervention
• Collaborate with campus administration and other providers of dyslexia intervention (PD(s) in the planning and implementation of instructional support and services of students with dyslexia and related disorders
• Attend district and campus meetings involving training in methods and strategies that improve general reading, dyslexia instruction and outcomes for students with dyslexia
• Travel among schools may be required
