What You'll Do
- Perform preventive maintenance on residential heating and cooling systems.
- Assist experienced technicians with diagnostics and repairs.
- Inspect HVAC equipment for performance, safety, and efficiency.
- Communicate maintenance findings and recommendations professionally with homeowners.
- Maintain accurate service documentation.
- Follow all company safety procedures and industry standards.
- Keep company vehicles, tools, and work areas organized and professional.
- Participate in ongoing technical and customer service training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- EPA Universal Certification (required)
- Certificate of completion from an accredited HVAC trade school (required)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools safely
- Able to work from extension ladders up to 28 feet and step ladders up to 12 feet
- Willing to purchase and maintain the tools needed for the position
- Commitment to continuing education through company-sponsored training and industry courses

Maintenance visits fill much of the shoulder seasons. You clean coils, change filters, flush drain lines, and check amperage so a system does not fail in the next heat wave. Install crews spend the day setting condensers and air handlers, running line sets and ductwork, and brazing connections. Customer trust matters because many repairs are invisible to the homeowner. Becoming a Licensed HVAC Technician in Texas
HVAC contracting is licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and the license is held at the company level by a certified technician.
